Designing Nomad Agent, an app to help real estate agents deliver a better service and close more deals.
My challenge involved single-handedly designing Nomad Agent, a groundbreaking platform designed to empower real estate agents in delivering exceptional service and value to their homebuyer clients
š©š» ROLE
Led design strategy and execution as the sole designer in an agile, cross-functional team.
ā³ TIMELINE
March - September 2023
š„ IMPACT
20M $USD raised in funding
TL;DR
In 2 months and being a small team (3 devs, 1 PM, 1QA, 1 designer) we built Nomad Agent from concept to launch.
This app helps real estate agents better connect with homebuyers. It enables agent collaboration by matching listings with agents who have interested clients, and automates processes like home hunting to streamline the entire experience.
Thanks to this project, the company secured $20 million in funding and attracted the best players in the Paris real estate market.
What I DID:
Conducted an initial UX audit of the company's current design framework
Established a new clear design direction and implemented a fresh UI style
Designed mobile and web app from 0 to 1
Developed a scalable design system
Provided design direction for the marketing websites
Context
THEĀ PROBLEM
The process of buying a home š can be an overwhelming experience. Agents tend to prioritize serving sellers over buyers, as working with them is generally more profitable. This often leaves homebuyers feeling isolated and overwhelmed š©.
THEĀ SOLUTION
Nomad Agent fosters collaborationš¤ among real estate professionals by intelligently matching buyer agents with seller agents based on their respective listings and client needs, facilitating š°commission sharing .
Storytime
Before I joined Nomad Homes, the team had validated the concept through a no-code app, identifying initial issues that we addressed while building the native app. Our initial focus was to enable the first step to close a deal: help the agent secure viewings with buyers
We mapped the E2E journey and then focused on defining the user flows to identify pain points and moments of truth. In this 1st version, agents would be able to see buyer's activity and monitor their requests to quickly arrange viewings or respond questions.
UI definition &Ā conceptualization
I rapidly explored various design concepts to define the foundations of a new, modern UI style.
I explored trendy and different options, but those presented implementation and accessibility challenges. Ultimately, we went for an option that could be implemented within the given timeframe. Here are some of the discarded concepts:
Prototyping and testing
We tested with early adopters of the no-code app and new users.
We identified mostly copywriting issues and missing features (expected, as we had reduced scope for initial release), but overall positive feedback, so we decided to move on applying a few changes.
Created a basic design system & patterns to launch fast
I defined the basic elements and structures to ensure visual consistency & rapid development. It served us as a starting point to start defining more complex structures and patterns, like the search pattern.
And we launched the first version of Nomad Agent
Outcomes
20 M $USD raised in funding
Investors responded positively, leading to a ā¬20M funding raise for the company attributed to this product.
ā
Featured in the french TV and Tech Crunch
Secured deals with major players in Paris market
Agents were highly satisfied, resulting in the closure of significant deals with major players in Paris within the first 3 months.
ā
Got feedback, improved user experience and evolved the product vision
In one hand we continued working in the app, detected main areas for improvement, with a focus on streamlining processes.
Specifically, I worked on simplifying the buyer addition process to encourage increased agent engagement.
This effort led to a significant reduction in time required, from 1ā 45ā to just 37ā.
ā
In the other hand, the team and resources increased and we dedicated 3 months to shape, understand and validate what was the right direction for our product's growth. This led to a reshaped vision that introduced AI. In this new project phase, I collaborated in shaping this vision by ideating, designing and prototyping the high-level concepts that were used during research phase. This is currently being implemented.
